Today on MORNINGS with MARIA, in response to a question about the recent Smash & Grab retail robberies and the failure of local politicians to do anything about them, Burt Flickinger paraphrased the late great R&B and Jazz artist Mose Allison, that their "minds are on vacation and their mouths are working overtime." They're hurting workers, customers, sales & the tax base, especially in California where 70% of schools depend on commercial taxes. Burt was also asked about proposed retail e-commerce spinoffs. He agrees with the transformational retail mastermind Mickey Drexler & Kohl's CEO Michelle Gass, along with Cornell alums and Wayfair co-founders Niraj Shah & Steve Conine -- who are moving from pure e-commerce to opening stores -- that an omnichannel approach makes more sense for most retailers.
