The combination of labor shortages and shipping bottlenecks driving massive out-of-stocks & retail sales have declined from Spring March-June highs to Summer lows & adjusted for inflation have been negative. That retailers can't sell stock from empty shelves was the focus of Burt Flickinger's latest "Retail Roundup" appearance on Mornings with Maria. Burt cited ASICS, with its million-sq-ft solar-powered plant and re-shoring manufacturing as a positive step, and Ohio Retail Hall of Famer Dan Shanahan of Buehler's, who understands that customer service starts with in-stocks and maintains product range & variety by working with local/regional suppliers/manufacturers and sharing ESOP ownership/profits with workers, similar to Food 4 Less and Winco. Also credit Walmart & Amazon for offering college tuition.
